You've nommed some chips, or something, and it's time to put the tomato sauce away.

Where does it go?

Depends what the instructions say. Most say fridge, so I voted that.

Haven't we done this thread before?

I'm more concerned about why you haven't got mayonnaise on the chips instead.

In the cupboard, it basically keeps forever.

Oh yes and nonsense such as 'use within eight weeks', or it suddenly goes poisonous, presumably.

It's just a total con to try and get people to throw perfectly good foodstuffs away so they have to buy more.

Trust your senses, sight and smell. Not so much hearing though, if it's making noises it probably has really gone off.

In the fucking cupboard, goddamnit.

As was said above, if you put fridge-cold ketchup on hot chips, you're a monster.

It's basically just vinegar anyway, it keeps forever.

It's in our cupboard because I don't like it.

If j ever thought I might chance to fancy some one say it would be kept in the fridge.

HOLD UP

I have announcement,

Mr Chris is *cough, spit, choke* right. Mayo is the correct chip condiment.

It goes in the fridge, when I remember, which is probably three days later. Which may defeat the point.

I assume MaliA is suffering some sort of episode brought on by sleep deprivation?

We keep it in the cupboard and the fridge... I put it in the cupboard, and Mr. flis' stupid children put it in the fridge. Well, one of the does - the other has learned where things go.

Edit: mayo goes in the fridge. The consistency is awful otherwise.

Mayo fridge due to egg content.

Ketchup is cupboard unless I saved money buying a massive bottle that won't fit stood up then it's in the fridge unless it's full and then it goes under the stairs.

Comments about 'er don't have it cold' is bollocks, you can eat hot chips immediately thanks to the cooling power of refrigerated sauce.

Also, it has to be Heinz.

I don't put the mayo in the fridge either. Not too worried about the egg content, given it's probably full of preservatives.

Not done me any harm either. Our kitchen cupboard seems to be cool enough.

Bit sweet for me. I prefer the stuff you get in cafes which is a bit more vinegary.

All of the Netherlands also votes mayo, but not that Hellmann horror
well, most people choose a low fat option called frietsaus, but same difference

salad cream is evil

ketchup is Heinz and in the fridge, though mostly because that is where it fits

In the cupboard until it's been open a couple of years and then you realise you really should throw it out because there's a new massive bottle in there anyway which you bought far too early in anticipation of the other one running out but actually oh the new one is out of date as well now we don't have any tomato sauce we'd better use some of that weird peri peri sauce we got as a free sample from work no it's manky I'll add tomato sauce to the shopping list.

People seriously don't put mayo in the fridge...? :spew:

Call me old fashioned, but if it says 'keep refrigerated' on the bottle, that's exactly what I do. Because you know, I don't like eating semi mouldering foodstuffs and/or shitting through the eye of a needle. :)

I'm also really fussy about best before dates and keeping food generally; if in doubt, do without etc. (My bro's missus, who is otherwise lovely in all respects, is a food hoarder, forever sticking stuff back in the fridge, cupboards etc. for the nth time, saying 'I'm not wasting food, best before dates are a con to get you to buy more' etc, just as here. Her kids are forever spewing up with bugs etc, funny that  )

In terms of which sauce, Stokes every time - from old school glass bottle that doesn't taint the sauce. Actually tastes as though it's been made with (prime Italian) tomatoes. Glorious.

As for Mayo on chips, wrongness personified :D

I had a look in the fridge this morning

There are 12 bottles\Jars of mustard, hot sauce's, brown, red, mayo, barbecue in there.

I keep sauces in a cupboard before they are opened but once they are they go in the fridge.

The only fridge related thing I don't like is that my wife insists in keeping the butter in a dish in there and its a pain to spread in on toast.
