Been rumors about this for a while but it seems both Amazon.fr and Amazon.de have posted pages offering it for sale and then removing it

Quote:
Mirror's Edge 2 listed for Xbox One and Xbox 360 by multiple Amazon sites

When a listing for Mirror's Edge 2 appeared on the German Amazon site not so long ago, we didn't dare report on it for fear that our fragile hopes would be promptly and cruelly shattered. But now that a listing has also cropped up on Amazon's Italian branch too, we're thinking that the existence of the much-longed for sequel might not be so far-fetched after all.

It's probably important to note that the new Italian listing features what is clearly placeholder box art and a tenuous holding release date of 1st January 2020. In addition, the listing isn't taking pre-orders at present, though it suggests that users sign up to receive information as soon as it becomes available.

Perhaps the most interesting nugget to glean from the new listing is Xbox One is reported as the game's only platform, whereas the German site entry (now taken down) mentioned the Xbox 360. Could this be one of the fifteen confirmed Xbox One exclusives?

Former DICE man Ben Cousins insists that Mirror's Edge 2 is in production, despite a shortage of updates from either the developer or EA. It was rumoured last year that the game would appear on next generation machines, and support Kinect.

I refuse to believe it. My little heart couldn't handle the inevitable disappointment.

Of it being an Xbox one exclusive with integrated Kinect.

Remember EA were very chummy with Microsoft during the event and there are 15 exclusives in the next year with 8 new IP

Just watched the trailer.
Filled with worry and concern.
A prequel leads to
Major themes going nowhere.
The style: intact and glorious.
The focus: fully on combat.
The clothes: worrying.
The grittiness of a Warrior Within?
I dare not hope, for I have been burnt.
But hope, but hope, but hope.

It does seem they never got the memo from every single person ever about the combat being needless and annoying in the last game. As long as it isn't any more needless and annoying than it was in the last game I'm fine with it though.

Seeing what was by far one of the most beautiful games of the current generation rendered in the apparently very capable new Frostbite engine will be an utter fucking joy to behold either way.

Players naturally find the most efficient way to get from A to B. which in game terms means the easiest. Dullest. Most tedious.
The linear levels teach you to overcome problems. To perfect a path through.
Open world will most likely kill Mirror's Edge. But depressingly, it's fans have shouted for it since launch, so I can see why they've done it

We don't always know what we actually want.

They could have a city as a hub but every level could be its on seperate area. I don't mind combat being in the trailer, but it should be optional not a definite part of the game.

Going through the game without killing anyone or using a gun was the best cheevo ever. They'd better make that possible again.

Indeed it was. It was the core of the game.

But the suits say:

Quote:
"The first game was a lot about running away from things. And, even though you want to have sections with that, you also want Faith... she's a powerful character and you want her to take control. You'll see a little bit more of that in this game."
EA Games Label boss Patrick Söderlund

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013- ... al-ea-says

Warrior Within 2.0. :'(
I've been burnt by sequels to perfect games. I won't do that again. I genuinely don't believe that EA have the upper management capable of preserving a game like ME. They want COD money.
Come on Dark Souls 2 - you're my only hope.

I don't think they should have included the ability to shoot in Mirror's Edge. It didn't need it. It was the worst part of the game. The best part was the running around and occasionally trying hard to not-be-shot :/

Yet, that trailer contains no running.

But you get to punch someone in the face after you have already taken them down, in slow motion. That's what all gamers want isn't it?

No, you don't like that, you like killing people, in graphic detail, in slow motion.
And you want to hear swearing while you do it.

You're a gamer, see.

All they really needed to do was take the engine from ME, keep the gameplay the same only make the game about ten times longer.

I played ME again a couple of months back and it still looked very current and relative.

The only thing I didn't like about ME was how short it was once you master it. It was a bugger to learn, but once you were the Karate Kid it all went by a bit quick. Oh, and it was a teeny weeny bit linear too.

Anyway, I'll tell you what will ruin this:

1) EA
2) DICE
3) Hacking. It's bound to have some in it and some ridiculously shit hacking subculture.
4) Tech. They'll go out of their way to introduce some kind of tech thing into it. Probably a new way of hacking.
5) It'll be bland. Again. Faith is not interesting and neither is the world she inhabits. You want evil corporations ruining the world - see Half Life 2, Dishonoured and some other games. This will be generic crap with a massively convoluted storyline. DICE can't do world building or stories.

Anyway, it'll look nice, no doubt, and the core gameplay will probably be the same and decent fun too. I'm not holding out much hope for a deeper gaming experience until it's done and someone plays the thing.

Hmm. Wasn't the original DICE and EA though? I mean even with a major cock up its ass it was still a damn good game !

It was an ok game with terrible combat and questionable "boss fights". It also suffered from a bland story and terrible comic book cut scenes. Let's not go nuts.

Well I liked it. Was a breath of fresh air. Not many 1st person platformers out there, though Dying Light is good.

Mirror’s Edge was amazing, you fools.

I believe it was also one of the best 10 games of all time.

I agree with Sir Coffey.

It's a game you fear going after a more shooty audience.

The 'complete game without using guns' cheevo remains the best cheevo.

I did do that in the first one.

But you can see the typical Publisher logic - Game didn't do as well as we hoped, therefore MORE GUNS. Everyone loves guns.
