Well, I know who I'm going to investigate tonight - although obviously I'm not going to say who in case the roleblocker/protector is working with them.

In what way was my phrasing odd?

This line of thought always bemuses me: Theres someone who is likely a somewhat overpowered role for the town, less so for the mafia. Lets lynch him to find out on frankly strange reasoning.

We need more people to vote.

Vote for Future Warrior!

Or GJ. She's always evil.

I'd potentially join a Gazchap lynch

If there is a cult leader, then it's Gaz. Him putting himself out there right away is very bold, but it's a fantastic move for a cult leader. Buys himself a bit of time because he makes the town think he's useful, gets a likely overnight doctor protection, and tells everyone that there's no cult.

So for people thinking we should be lynching because there's a cult, the only person that can reasonably be a cultist is Gazchap, so do we lynch?

You want to vote for me even though I'm town? That's pretty scummy.

Although Gazchap did outright say 'I am town' which would be pretty dumb if he were a cultist.

Hmm.

Err, I am a bit confused by this, as a townie, I know that the roles [sides] were handed out randomly; the only way I can conceive that someone would not know this is if they had a role that meant it had to be assigned a certain side. It is highly unlikely that that would be a town role, and most likely it is some sort of SK role. A role you then go on to mention in a vaguely obfuscating way.

I'm pretty sure that was a reference to the previous discussion about who would get assigned kill roles.

But but but... the primary reason we think there may be a cult is Tom Cruise. And he can't be both and noones counterclaimed his stated role.

Also, how would you know whether it was random or whether trooper picked who was in which faction?

OK.

Gazchap said there is no cult faction. This means one of two things

1) Gazchap is lying. It would make utterly no sense for the mafia to pretend there is no cult, so he's not mafia. Ergo Gazchap is the cult leader
2) There is no cult.

Either way, Tom Cruise is not a cult leader. Tom Cruise is an idiot, because he's the only role in the game that makes themselves look guilty if they roleclaim, but not a cult leader. Presumably a roleblocker.

3) GazChap has been mislead. We can't really assume anything at all at this point.

And for all we know, Tom Cruise is a lunatic role.

If 1, Gaz gets imediately outed the moment a minion is killed. Pretty stupid for a cult leader. So not 1.

What if the Mafia are effectively the cult in this game? Unless I've missed something there's nothing in the roles about anyone having a kill role - although Cedric Smythsonian's role description sounds a bit SK-like to me.

Perhaps the Mafia's goal in this game isn't to kill everyone, but to recruit everyone into the Mafia? Or get a majority?

Trooper said that nobody was allowed to put a kill role in their role description, he would tell people if they had a kill.

Theres also nothing in the rules about a recruit role. A 3 person cult would be seriously overpowered.

True.

Would it be overpowered, though? Would it make much practical difference if the Mafia were gaining their majority by converting townies rather than killing them off?

Gaining a vote majority would be easier but this wouldn't really be any different to killing them off.

I suppose the advantage would be the Mafia being able to gain the usage of any of the night actions, but the only one that would be of much use to them is the roleblocker - unless Doctor protection protects against investigations also, which seems unlikely.

gazchap: 1 (zaphod79)
thefirefaerie: 1 (Bobbyaro)
cras: 1 (Grim...)
future warrior: 1 (Curiosity)
nolynch: 4 (Cras, Future Warrior, Mr Dave, DavPaz)

Not voted: 4 (gazchap, goddess jasmine, saturnalian, thefirefaerie)

With 12 players alive, 7 votes are required for a lynch, and 7 nolynch votes are required to not lynch anybody.

Day has timed out, well done people on not lynching a good guy! Poor show in not lynching a bad guy!

Night actions to me by..........

......

..... wait a second....

Why are you dragging Cras to the lynching tree?
But you didn't give a majority vote!

Cras has been lynched.

Cras
Allegiance: Neutral
Character name: Princess Sparklebum
Description: The youngest daughter of the King of the pixie folk, Princess Sparklebum is a flying joy-machine bringing laughter, happiness, and rainbows to everyone she meets.
Night power (if any): Princess Sparklebum can shower a player with kittens and unicorns and thoughts of wonderous giggledust, leaving them unable to do anything in the night phase.
Passive ability (if any):
Additional characteristics (if any): Princess Sparklebum is the youngest daughter. She'll never be in charge, and that properly pisses her off. As a result, while she probably could bring joy and wonder to everyone she meets, instead she doesn't. Her night ability could block someone's night action with thoughts of kittens and unicorns, but what's the fun in that? Instead she can manipulate her target's night action into doing the exact opposite of what it should. A doctor might kill their patient, or an investigation might return the wrong result or even out the investigated party to the world (I'll leave the specifics up to the boss man )
Win condition should be Town in the public thread, but secretly neutral. Princess Sparklebum wins if she survives to the end of the game. Investigations will reveal her true alignment.

Basically NIGHTCUNT mark II

Night actions to me by Thursday 2pm please.
