Have you seen Kindle Unlimited, apparently there are 650,000 audio and ebooks. For £7.99 a month.

At least this time they appear to be covering any device, with the lending library you get as part of Prime its only Kindle devices not IPad with Kindle installed

what happens when you've read/heard all 650k?

By which I mean 'that's "Kindle Quite A Lot", not "Unlimited"'

Someone should write to the ASA saying 'see, this is the inevitable consequence of letting ISPs use 'unlimited' to describe something with clear limits, you /dicks/'

I think youre splitting hairs a little there. However. Given the amount of free stuff on kindle which could be part of the 650k and therefore potentially quite a lot, I'd want to see the selection a few months after launch before committing. Prime instant video for example has a lot of stuff to watch, but very little I actually want to watch.

:this: If it actually had books I wanted, I'd be interested, but I can't see a way to tell without signing up.

When you look in the Kindle store on your Kindle now free books have an "unlimited" icon.

You can get a 30 day free trial, you have to remember to cancel it of course. Where possible I use Pay Pal for offers like this, it creates a recurring payment which you can remove instantly after signing up.

Hmmmm... I've searched for a dozen books I've either recently enjoyed or want to read next. Not a single one was available on unlimited.

I guess that's that then!

I thought I'd update my Amazon wish-list yesterday, as Russell has been prompting me to with the impending Birthday and Christmas incoming, and I noticed that most of the knitting books that I fancied were on Kindle unlimited.

I have signed up for the 30 day free trial with the aim to just have a look at them all. I can absorb any techniques during the 30 day trial, and any that I really want to pursue for patterns or whatever I can then decide whether I want to purchase outright in hardcopy (which does really make for a nicer experience with something so visual as a knitting book) in the future.

Thought I'd get some knitting books to read whilst away visiting. Searched for 'lace'.

Don't do that, unless you want to be bombarded with the covers for really ropey-looking smut novels.
