Thanks to a train of thought emanating from hearing Bad Manners perform a version of Black Night on an episode of ...Buzzcocks I'd recorded over the weekend, I wondered how many good songs there are starting with the word 'black'. So, I checked my mp3 collection, and after a circuitous series of events arrived at the following playlist. (In short, there are more good ones that you might have imagined)

Black Night / Hugo Strasser
Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos (Feat. Chuck D) / Asian Dub Foundation
Black Out Fall Out / Polysics
Black Forest / Takako Minekawa
Black-Eyed Susan / Laura Veirs
Black Arabs / Sex Pistols
Black White Blue / Front 242
Black Bass / Shonen Knife
Black Tongue / Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Black hole sun / MakroSoft
Black Forest (Lorelei) / Mercury Rev
Blackpool Roll / Mr Scruff

So, for your listening pleasure, here they are: http://blackcelebration.muxtape.com/

Can anyone else think of similarly (though not necessarily related to specific colours) themed playlists? If you can't this is going to be a very lonely thread...

Almost forgot - if anyone is thinking of a potential compilation but can't be bothered uploading each track to Muxtape, Mixwit should be handy. Unlike Muxtape you can upload as many compilations as you like under one username, but most spendidly you don't even need to upload anything. Instead it looks for the songs that you ask it to, and compiles a 'tape' automatically. You can even do custom cassette covers for it. Here are my Mixwit tapes so far, though I really ought to do some better ones.

Don't know that one. I wonder if it is possible to compile an entire Muxtape of differents songs with the same title. Hmm.

STOP NAMING SONGS I HAVEN'T GOT AND DO YOUR OWN COMPILATIONS.

(And relax.)

You need to go to the Muxtape website, sign up and from there you can upload up to twelve songs. If you can't be done with uploading tracks, Mixwit is much the same, only there's no limit on the number of songs per collection, it finds the MP3s for you, and you can make multiple compilations on the same username. The downside is that the selection of tunes is limited by what their web-bots can find, as there's no option to upload your own tracks. Swings and roundabouts, really.
