I just downloaded a torrent that included 3678 fonts that began with M... wasn't in that lot. There's another torrent here with 21gb of fonts (35gb unzipped 8) ). Buggered if I'm downloading that though.

To ensure your system runs as slow as possible?

I use a DTP program called Scribus that checks the integrity of installed fonts on first startup. Each time I install a new version I die a little inside when I think how long it will take.
