Anyone know what Smoothwall is or how I can avoid their filters?
My workplace use it and its causing mayhem with this forum, mostly Mafia Scum right now.

'Weighted phrases' are causing pages to be blocked :(

This could land you in trouble, employment-wise, so I've made a few changes.

Smoothwall

Not sure how you'd get round it without blatantly violating workplace policy to the point of getting sacked, though.

Smoothwall is a firewall ( presumably one that can block websites as well ).

No idea how to get around it, although Grim... had a proxy thing he might be nice enough to post the link to.

As others have noted, Smoothwall is a custom mini-Linux operating system distribution aimed at acting as a dedicated filtering proxy and firewall program.

Sounds like it's doing traffic scanning of the content, so proxies or alternate addresses aren't going to help you. Grim..., is there any SSL access to beex? That might help.

Er, no.
You could try running in "text-only" mode (ish - you can turn a lot of stuff off in your profile) like Craster does. That might help.

Looks like that particular wall is too smooth for LaciePanties.

My workplace has adopted the Dirty Harry approach. They don't block much of anything, they just put out a policy that says anyone doing personal browsing will be sacked.
