Whilst rummaging around the quieter corners of the internet this evening, I found this old Digitiser review of I-War 2, a game that completely passed me by at the time. I think 2001 must have been during my PC gaming wilderness years, between my machine that refused to install Quake 2, and the one I have now that refuses to play Half-Life 2.

Anyway, before I take the plunge and invest my precious £0.59, can anyone tell me anything more about it? Did the game that finally matched Elite completely pass me by, or am I misremembering the trustworthiness of Digi reviews? Most excitingly of all, will it run on XP?

My apologies if this is a game that I've somehow failed to spot in every "Top 100 Games Eva..." list for the past seven years. My quick scan of MetaCritic suggests it's fiercely difficult to get to grips with, but massively rewarding if you do. That'll be just like Elite then, yeah?

It's pretty fronty.

Can't believe no-one else got there first. Apart from that, no idea. Sorry.

It's easy to get started, difficult to get good at. Great game, though.

Also, I'd be very grateful if anyone has any hints for making it work in Vista.
