Here I am, in Germany. Just had a rather splendid day wandering the snowy alpine hills of the Black Forest down in the Southern Hinterlands, before drinking beers in various Freiburg taverns. Now I have returned home to my friend's Eddy and Marie's place and me and Eddy decided to stay up and watch the last episode of 'Band of Brothers', a series he is only just finishing on his first view through and now rather likes.

I have drunk lots of beer and whiskey.

I have just watched the last episode 'Points'.

The scenery around here's a lot like that episode, only snowy.

I have just unashamedly wept through Captain Winter's epilogue. (Again)

The send off for Easy Company is the pinnacle of my favourite TV show ever. I think I'm gay for Winters.

Anyone else here had a whiskey in their hand and been helplessly moved by one of the holy trinity of Great Televisual Things along with The Wire and Firefly, and frankly wonders how the upcoming The Pacific could match the awesome? I realise that I call on the love of people on this forum for this show on a semi-regular basis, but damn - it's still the best war drama of the EVER for me.

Yours, laid out on a friend's settee, Pete. :luv:

You only like Winters because he's a fellow ginger, innit?

Hope Germany's treating you good mate. German food and beer is the just the best. And say hi to L'il E and Marie for me.

Because he's the only male ginger in the history of cinema and television that hasn't been an embarrassing fool?

Hmm, yes, probably.

I was quite drunk on German beer and Bruichladdich whiskey last night. I also strongly recommend the Italian wine Ramitello. It looks a bit like that last BoB episode 'Points' around here.

Isn't Dexter Fletcher in Band of Brothers In Arms?

I could easily check it, but...

The Pacific series starts on 5th April. It's on Sky Movies, so you'll be needing a subscription.

All the ads say 'Exclusive to Sky Movies HD'.

As a Virgin customer I have all of the Sky movies channels, apart from teh HD one as we mere mortals don't get that. Please tell me they're not going to be utter bastards and only put it on the HD channel...

I have asked for the Blu Ray set of the original for my 30th (only 2.5 weeks away, fact fans!) and look forward to it immensely.

Adverts for 'The Pacific' have now subtley changed - although the voiceover says exclusive to Sky Movies HD, the display says Sky Movies and Sky Movies HD.

Ooo... I have a shrinkwrapped DVD box set of BoB which I bought for my Dad for Christmas. He then bought a blu-ray player the week before so I got him it on BD instead.

If anyone wants the DVD set, PM me with a price/bribe.
