After having a look at what I'm paying now, and what I could be paying with a Sky package, it seems the Sky option is better:

Phone bill is about £30 pcm, inc line rental, internet is £14.99pcm, so that's £45pcm at the moment.

With Sky, for 36.50pcm, I can get a internets, phonecalls free all day, and more telly and a skybox.

Am I missing something here?

Nope.

Get Sky+ rather than normal sky though.

Oh yeah, when the engineer replaced my box he stated that the SkyHD additional charge would be waived soon rather than paying the extra £10 a month.

It's the sky+ deal they have on at present. Someone somewhere else warned me of their "shitty router" which I don't really know about as I don't do stuff like that, but if it makes XBox, Wii, 2 laptops and a desktop speak to the internet then it's all good. XBox is cabled, rest aren't.

the catch is that your telephone exchange needs to have sky kit installed. If your in a city, it's likely you'll get that price. If your in the sticks, it's less likely, and you'll have to pay more.

My "Sky" Internet connection costs me more than the bargain Sky price and seems to come up as an Easynet connection.

In fairness, the router does needing rebooting every few weeks after the PS3 decides to stop talking to it over the wireless, but that's the only issue I have and it's the tiniest of tiny nitpicks.

As much as I hate to consider Sky, the package is substantially cheaper than what we are paying at present for it all....

Fucking hell, I voted Tory and now I'm getting Sky.

It'll be the Medium package (here), with the free phone calls all day and paying Sky a tenner for the line rental. With the Variety pack and the News pack to get Eurosport, I guess.

I've got a phone point in the living room which the current router is connected to, so that'll stay, I guess? So that's 37.50pcm for internets, phone and MOAR TELLYBOX.

<thinks>

If Sky send me a wireless router, and I already have a wireless router, could I plug my wireless router into this computer using however it is it goes in, and not use the wirelessc ard, thus getting a better signal?

So it would go

Computer---Old Router <--- --- --- --- --- magic wireless --- -- -- ---> SKY router--Phoneline

Unless the router<->router wireless signal is somehow better than the router<->wireless card signal, I can't see it being an improvement.
