What series are you on? It takes a dive, comes back, then takes a dive again.

For me it's Bar Rescue (a bar version of Kitchen Nightmares), Kitchen Nightmares (a restaurant version of Bar Rescue), Jerry Springer, and (TV's highest paid woman, and not by a little) Judge Judy.

I love Shed and Buried for this. it's like Ted and Ralph but with shit old motorbikes.

I've watched a few of those.

I'm also doing Police Interceptors this season, as its in Northampton and it's fun to go "I know that street!" as an oik on an illegal ebike in the foreground is being run over by a police car

How are they still making Jerry Springer? I thought that ended in the 90s. I'm surprised there is anyone in the US left to do a DNA or lie detector on.

I think we are on Season 4, we just watched the episode where Britta tries to throw a Sophie B Hawkins dance, and Abed goes on 2 dates at the same time and ends up with a Marvel ous cloakroom attendant instead

We still enjoy the 'Border Security' programmes too. Does the package contain drugs? Is this family smuggling seeds in their suitcases? Is Charlie really visiting for tourist purposes with only 200 buck in his pocket and a telephone number for 'Big Mike's unskilled labour jobs' and will they cancel his visa? Find out after a long drawn out series of jumps and adverts.

RBT (Random Breath Testing) is similarly junk but somehow engaging.




I always enjoy when a country fair have lumberjack competitions, they are fun to watch. Chainsaws and axes are both awesome and terrifying and dangerous and cool, so making them part of a time-based competition is a great idea.

The one where they chop at their feet whilst standing on a log makes me wince. Also the one where they chop wedges out of the trunk, insert the standing boards, and climb the tree in stages to chop the top off.

I remember when 'The Middle' came out and I never gave it any sort of chance as it seemed to be just a weak rip off of 'Malcolm in the Middle', but I was wrong - it's actually really good.

We're about 8 or so eps into the first season and it's good family viewing. While it's not as laugh-out-loud funny as Malcolm, it is more relatable and it's more pleasant in tone. Perhaps it resonates more given where I currently am in life compared to when it first came out, especially as it's told more from the mother's perspective than the kids. Every now and then an adult joke will be snuck in, but it's subtle.

I'm really looking forward to having this as part of our regular family viewing.

Just watched Young Sheldon Season 7 on Chanel 4 (should it be this thread).

It ties up the show quite well, and is a little sad. As it covers the passing of his dad. Not a spoiler as it is covered in BBT.

I do like the show, bot as good as BBT, but i do enjoy BBT and binged watched the whole show earlier this year...

Jerry died last year, which would probably be the main problem they face when making new ones. To my knowledge, they never did DNA or Lie Detector tests (that was done on the Steve Wilkos show, which was hosted by Jerry's ex "Head of Security").

Oh, really? I must have false memories of the show in that case, but then the last time I saw it was back in the 90s, and I didn’t think it was made beyond then. I have zero memory of Jerry Springer dying.

I know it's sort of a UK show but it is set in New York but anyway, the latest episode of What We Do In The Shadows was an absolute mess.

Is What We Do in the Shadows not a New Zealandish show?

The original film was, but there are plenty of British shows that get remade for America and we don't claim ownership.

Oh sure, it's an American show, but I can't see it being "sort of a UK show".

Three British actors in the lead roles, but yep, if I have to steal it from the internet, it's definitely American

I've never looked into the production details but Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry and Natasia Demetriou are all English and so far they've not introduced a plot where two main characters are going to have a baby which means it doesn't feel like the usual US story arc.

Sat through the rest of Rust to Riches last night… amazing scenes.

This week’s episode of What We Do In The Shadows is a remake of one of my favourite films. It’s glorious!

I've not seen it yet but I hope it's better than the previous couple of episodes. That one with the TV cop show was the worst one they've done. They've dumbed down Nandor to Inspector Gadget levels and it's starting to become unwatchable.

It was better. Also, I was unreasonably thrilled at the music used in the cafe scene. It's from my favourite ever film, Repo Man.

I watched The Penguin.

I’ve got few complaints about this one. Really solid to really great performances from all involved. I kinda wanted to forget it was related to Batman as I was enjoying it. I enjoyed the slow pace but cor that final episode was decent though. When he did that spoiler thing, man alive, I was mad at the TV.

The only problem I had with it was that it wasn’t aesthetically as dark and gritty as the film and the story, apart from the spoiler thing, wasn’t as horrifying as I personally would have liked to have seen it go. By the end, I was hoping it would be like Scorsce movie but it ended like a Batman. Apart from the spoiler thing that was pretty fucking good.

Inexplicably, we've started watching Ink Masters. It's a tattooing competition show with the gimmick that EVERYBODY ON IT IS THE WORST PERSON YOU'VE EVER SEEN. It's edited in that entirely disingenous, horrible American reality TV way where they make it look like people are speechless and whatever.

I enjoy watching the tattooing though and there's a billion episodes of it. We started with S5 and are now up to S8.

I have no tattoos. I don't know why I'm watching it.

US telly like this is so horrible. Like their version of Masterchef is just people making gang signs at each other and threatening to beat each other up while the Australian version, the best version, is everyone being lovely and cooking the best food you've ever seen.

Someone that some of us on here know once dated a guy who appeared on a show about correcting bad tattoos, because he had a tattoo of a penis tattooed along his inner thigh to show off when he was wearing shorts.

Last night we watched the entire mini-series La Palma on Netflix (I had to check on imdb whether it's called that or Las Palmas).

It's a scandinavian-made disaster series and it's pretty good, even if it falls into the cliche of characters going through a series of practically impossible circumstances to miraculously escape and survive their stupid decisions. That being said, there were a couple of stand-out scenes to me where the tension did feel high and the effects were rather good.

It felt quite well made, although most of it was dubbed into English (leading to that funny mouth shape-sound disconnect) there seemed to be a couple of occasions where some of the actors were actually speaking english instead of being overdubbed, and that was a bit jarring.

It's only 4 eps, and I was only going to watch one or two last night but ended up doing it all in one sitting, I did enjoy it and although the ending was a little bit flat for me I would still recommend. The trailer does show some of the best bits, so perhaps avoid that.

Having very much enjoyed 'The Good Place' We started watching 'The Man on the Inside' with Ted Danson. It's entertaining in that lightweight kind of way and had some funny moments but it's quite a relaxed and gentle feeling show rather than being zingy and zippy and side-splittingly hilarious like I was expecting. It also seems like it will be a 'nice' show which is a good thing when so much else around in the real world seems shit and mean spirited.

From what I saw in the first couple of episodes I liked it, and look forward to watching the rest of it.



And the second series was even better. I love Harrison Ford, and Lady T loves Brett Goldstein.

Man on the inside is not just Good place cast crossover but also the work of Mr Parks and rec.

It's like neither, reminds me more of Only murders in the building but less slapstick. And something else which I've forgotten.

We've got one episode left. I've quite enjoyed it but if we hadn't been able to binge it in 2 days I don't think it would have stuck

We've binged all eight seasons of Psych. I don't know why. I also don't know how they got 8 seasons, with consistent levels of cameo actors. One of those perfect storms of just wrong enough in the right ways I guess.

I never got into Parks and Rec. I'm not even sure I really gave it a chance, it was just one of those things that passed me by.

Try starting on S2. S1 is average and just not terribly funny. Really picks up after that.

But be aware that after a while it starts to decline again.

The thing I was reckoned of was an episode of the Simpsons. Turns out not to be that.

But stylistically I'm also reminded of The Kaminski Method
