Jock ties TheVision to a chair and starts cranking up the voltage, Jock cranks it to number 2 on the dial, just to get his attention.

TheVision screams and dies immediately. It seems he hadn't had any sort of training to withstand torture, which isn't surprising as he is a Townie!

<camera pulls back, in slides a scene with MaliA sitting in an adult movie theatre, intently staring at the screen. A length of cheese wire loops around his neck. One quick pull, and then the cheese wire is tightened and MaliA slumps in his seat>

MaliA was a Townie.

<bottom left corner of the screen we see Kima still bound in the back of a van, the van bounces over something and we see Malc lying in the middle of the road, dead. The van doesn't stop>

<bottom right corner of the screen reveals a ticking clock. It is showing 6 and counting down. The camera pulls back, it looks to be some sort of nuclear device>

Malc was a Terrorist!

<BEEP BEEP BEEP>

Here is what we know so far...

Actions sent to me by 10pm Thursday please (i'm away tomorrow night, so won't be around to move the day on, sorry). If Jock interrogates sooner than that, then the next day will start sooner than the deadline if all actions are in, and I get a chance to log on and sort it all out, otherwise the deadline will stick.

Can a mod sort the dead thread please.

Two townies down, one baddie as well.

That's quite a result, I think. Depends on how many baddies are left, I suppose.

Has Jock "stopped the bomb"?

Can we assume that the terrorist was equivalent to a serial killer role? In which case, hopefully there are no more.

I think that would be premature. Assuming bad guys are gone is not a smart move.

I'd be inclined to assume there is at least one more, but who knows? I also think their role may be different - there is a "bomb clock" of sorts, so presumably Jock has to get to them before that goes off or we're all fucked. I think the terrorists just need to escape detection until then; they aren't listed as having a killing role, and their win condition is BOOM which to me means bomb goes off at which point everyone dies. Curiously though, there is only one group, "kidnappers", who are listed as having a killing role, and yet 2 people died. I'm not sure how to explain that... either there are 2 kidnappers and each has a kill, or there is another faction in play that we haven't unearthed. Thoughts?

Good point.

Terrorists who have to survive 6 days, and an SK? Probably someone Jock wronged in a previous mission; always the way.

I have another observation bordering on theory (I'm feeling surprisingly lucid tonight) - the death of Terrorist Malc is not a good thing for us regular folk. Hear me out!

How do we defuse the bomb? If the terrorists die, then surely the bomb will go off when the timer hits zero because Jock won't know where the bomb actually is to do anything about it, no? If I'm right about that, then the only way to stop the bomb is for Jock to interrogate a terrorist and get the information out of him. Fewer terrorists in the game therefore is a BAD thing, because it reduces Jock's odds of getting to one of them.

And of course this also means that anyone with a "kill" action should want to AVOID killing a terrorist too, as when the bomb goes off as I read it EVERYONE goes up. There can't be any sort of concrete kidnapper bunker, they are wandering freely among us even now, so they can't be protected. Also, I've just had a closer read of their blurb and the kidnapper(s) HAVE NO WIN CONDITION. THIS SEEMS VITAL SOMEHOW!!! Does it mean they CAN'T win? Perhaps Jock WILL find them as an inevitability - they have no refuge from his remorseless fury. That's the only way I can see it working. If we accept this as fact, then their kills really serve no purpose other than to get terrorists. Which, if we accept my theory that we need terrorists ALIVE to help Jock's odds of interrogating one, means the kidnappers really shouldn't be risking killing anyone, because as I see it both town and kidnappers have a mutual enemy in the terrorists and we all lose if Jock doesn't find a terrorist within the next 6 days.

Does any of that make sense?

Yes, from a town position nothing I have said changes our intent, except that we are really aiming for a terrorist rather than a kidnapper, and we are not woohooing so much about getting Malc. It is the kidnappers who it really matters to, as if I am correct then they ought not to kill people (or do so very very sparingly) until the bomb is defused. Unless they know something we don't and are somehow aligned with the terrorists or are the same people as the terrorists or something.

It's mostly just giving us something to discuss though, because the whole "let's get a quiet one" alternated with "let's get a loud one" way of doing these games is really fucking tedious and never works.

Eh? Saying our priority is to identify a terrorist to torture the bomb location out of them, is PRO terrorist? Saying we should target terrorists above all other groups is PRO terrorist? Sorry for the repetition, but I'm trying to find a combination of words that makes what you say remotely resemble what I said earlier, and I'm struggling a bit, bear with me...

Well I think our interests are essentially aligned with theirs until the bomb is dealt with, that's all. And if I think not killing is in the kidnapper(s) interests then wouldn't I just say it behind closed doors if I was a kidnapper, not out here for all the town to see and wonder about?

I don't really see why Jock should focus on the terrorists. There's no mention of what will happen if and when the last one is caught or killed. All we know is that there's a bomb counting down. From the Day 2 description, I drew the assumption that there must be at least one more terrorist (since the bomb is still active), and then drew the further assumption that when the last one carks it there'll be some explanation that will stop the bomb (remote deactivation switch or something?)

I don't see why the terrorists have to be caught and interrogated by Jock, is what I'm saying. In the end, we need all the bad guys dead, and I wouldn't necessarily start freaking out about the terrorists until that bomb counts down closer to zero.

Having at least one new group is pretty much to be expected (i also think there will be more than one 'new' role and ability in the first post in the next few days) - and those worrying about the terrorist if the 6 is correct then we've plenty of time , if the number of deaths last night keeps up the town will be just Jock long before the bomb goes off

The only information that the rest of us have is who died and why (if there was any reason at all)

TheVision is gone simply because he did not contribute
Malia was quite talkative yesterday and wonder if his 'ear nailed to the floor' as some type of eavesdropping claim which would put him as an FBI agent ? (although i think he was just trying to be interesting) which may explain why he was targeted ?
Malc had a few comments about moles and puppet masters and "people are not what they seem" which may also have been some vague claim of a role ? (or at least seem to be)

For the good guys assuming they are all in play we have a blocker a protector and an investigator (the descriptions dont really give any idea of numbers but you'd think only 1 head of CTU but there could be more than one FBI or CTU agent ?) and the super powered Jock

I'll have a look over the thread from yesterday but i dont think there will be much in there to help at this stage.

I think defusing the bomb that will kill us all, THEN saving Kima is substantially better than saving her just so you can die together when the bomb goes off. Although both constitute a win for you technically I'll admit, I can't see the second route being very satisfactory. It'll ruin the next series for one thing.

So we're agreed we need to find bad guys for Jock to interrogate?

Good-o.

Here comes a role claim:

I am an FBI agent, with the power to investigate overnight.
After joking around in the thread yesterday that we should interrogate Curiosity, I chose to investigate him last night.

The reply was that Curio is bad.

I then mentioned it in the game thread again today that we should interrogate him, but this time I knew why.

So why make a role-claim? Well, I re-read the rules after looking for the mention of terrorists and saw that there is a Head of CTU who can protect overnight.

So, if the Head of CTU chooses to protect me overnight, and Jock doesn't interrogate me during the day then I am an invincible FBI Agent until such time as the CTU head dies. If there is no head of CTU then I will me killed off quick sharpish, but at least we will have got Curiosity.

Jock, interrogate Curiosity please after you've all had a discussion to prove that I am ace best.

AND I changed my mind at the last minute to kill Malc instead of Russ.

Gah!

Okay, Mister Bower. Do your worst... but I won't tell you a damn thing. You killed my family in Bosnia, you monster!!!

So, Curio killed Malc. Who killed Mali? There's no other current known kill roles. Although the description quite clearly says that the Kidnappers killed Malc, so there is A.N.Other kill role out there that we don't know about.

There's no info about the terrorist actions (if they exist or not) so perhaps a kill was done by them.

Or yes, perhaps there's another another another role.

Given its trooper that's quite possible

I also think Curio should have at least tried to bluff his way - for all he knows there's a 'rubbish' FBI agent out there whos detections always come out backwards , although 'confessing' like that does mean that he wont have anyone else on his team siding with him or being seen to fight for him.

I think we all know what the overnight actions will be for some of the roles - is there any other we'd like to discuss ?

Jock - Interrogate Curio
CTU Head - protect Mr Russell
FBI Agent(s?)- investigate ??? (not saying this should be openly mentioned in the thread but should we make some suggestions or just let Russ go with his gut ?)
CTU Agent(s?) - block ??? (again apart from not blocking Mr Russell do we want to talk about who they should block?)

Actually, Curio's unlikely to be a terrorist if he's claiming to have killed Malc (another terrorist) but he could still be a kidnapper or the cheese-wire killer.

I'm going to assume that if Russ is correct and Curio is bad, that anything Curio says may be an attempt at misdirection for some nefarious purpose.

But yeah, it's pretty conclusive if Curio is being truthful.

I typically find it's safe to assume that, yes.

Well I for one am happy to have information of some sort. Obviously we can't be certain of its reliability but I'm far happier asking Curiosity a few hard questions rather than taking a random potshot. Either way, we're going to learn something of value from it that we can use, and information is power.

I'm not terribly convinced I can think of a reason for him to answer any at this point, but I agree to some extent.

So, Curio - have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?

No, but I once danced with your Mum under a streetlight in a back alley.

So you're erring on the side of disbelieving Russ? Because if you're erring on the side of believing Russ then there's your reason for interrogating Curio. So, next question is, why don't you believe Russ?

And of course if we interrogate Curio and he's good for some reason, then feel free to interrogate me the next day.

Except don't do it straight away, because I'll have more info by then.
