OK. We need three people to tell stories.

I suggest that we make the two false stories as plausible as possible by telling basically true things that happened by with the salient detail(s) slightly altered.

Also, first or second? I'm thinking second, only to judge by their tactics.

Ok guys - need to decide whether to tell or guess. I'm thinking guess first, to give our team a bit more time to think up stories.

Any opposition to this thought, speak up now.

No problems. Curio will have to change the thread title for task two, though, as he started that one.

About the only interesting true story I have is drunkenly chatting to Ryan Giggs in a nightclub, just after he'd split up with her off of Hollyoaks.

Well, it says EVENT or TALENT, so at least vaguely interesting, one would hope.

Happy to make shit up, though.

True event - me and Bobby won the National UK Junior Ultimate Frisbee Championships.

Okay, Kovacs is lying. Can tell from the way he's set the story up and who the hell would make kids into a giant ladybird, it's the wrong shape, you'd just make them into individual ones.

Going to look at Troopers again now.

Okay, this is what I get from this, right or wrong...

I am incredibly good at remembering numbers. We know this to be true from posts on the boards.

I know all my credit cards numbers of every credit card i've ever had, He may have never had a credit card or only ever had one making this also true.

I know all my telephone numbers i've ever had, He might have only ever had one number making this true

and the majority of numbers that I would need to put back into my phone if I ever lost all my contacts. He might know Mrs T's and his parents home number, that could be the majority he is talking about.

In the past I have learnt a 200 digit number, just to prove that I could anyone can learn something by rote though, so this is very possible.

and I could easily do more Hmm, might ask how he knows this.
Ironically, I'm awful at remembering names, or pretty much anything else also possible.

I know it doesn't help, but I strongly suspect that both Trooper's and Mali's stories are based on truth of some sorts.

That's the thing; what's the rule on how false your stories have to be? If I did the Ryan Giggs story but said I met him in Nightclub X, it would be a lie if it was Nightclub Y. Like Kovacs would be a lie of it was Terry Nutkins instead of David Bellamy, even if the rest of the story was true.

I am perfectly happy to make up some lies. If APOD turns up, he is also good at lies.

The important bits have to be true (or false, whatever). Even the less-important things have to be true (or false, whatever). No-one is trying to dupe you.

Well, I guess two people are, but you know what I mean.

Thing is, you're well known for doing such things, so it would have to be a double bluff. I'd be tempted for you to have done a plausibly false story, and one of the less trustworthy types to actually be telling the truth.

Malia has to be lying.a 17 year Mali, with a girl on a horse, in horse dressage gear, and he was paying attention to what the horse wanted! Furthermore there was little innuendo about the meeting at all (which is quite unlike malia).

Also "I did meat Mr Belamy but not in a dignified way !". Is really not a kovacs statement. (apart from the "meat" bit!)

I actually think that malias story is deliberately constructed to be so unlikely in nature and format of posting compared to his normal style that we are meant to presume it is a lie.

Could be a bluff. Or a double bluff. Or a triple bluff. Etc.

I reckon we can call Kovacs, as his story is so badly spelled and written it actually makes no sense, ergo is not true.

Mali's answers have other info volunteered with them too making them more beliveable. But I'm still not sure. I have to go to work now, do we need to post our stories at 11 when we make our choice?

I once knocked Charlie Dimmock flat on her arse whilst on my way to work, it was in the middle of Waterloo station, i was just walking along and she walked straight into me, was quite shocked to see who was on the floor in front of me. This was during the height of the Groundforce era.

My great great great (maybe great again) Grandfather on my mothers side was the last person to be hung in england for sheep stealing, after him they were deported to Australia for that crime, there is a plaque with his name on somewhere down Brighton way.

Both true, i can change either to a easy lie also

That sheep stealing story is ace.

I say we go with:

The Vision - a lie about some kind of endeavour he would do.
And two others. I am happy to tell a true or a false story. We should decide soon, though.

If everything has to be completely true or completely false, then regarding the 'numbers' thing, he'd have to be COMPLETELY rubbish at numbers. Does he mention being good or rubbish with numbers anywhere in the forum?

@Goddess Jasmine: it isn't suggested anywhere that we need to post our stories immediately afterwards, no. Have to have time o get our ducks in a row, after all this is the time we are supposed to spend guessing.

Made up story: I once dropped a whole catering tub of mayonnaise on the floor which immediately burst open and covered several people, including Ainslie Harriott, with mayonnaise. On trying to clear it up I slipped and fell, kicking a catering trolley and knocking a load of small bowls of spices everywhere.

The situation is entirely fictional, though I have met and worked with Ainslie Harriott.

Totally confused regarding their stories, though I do wonder that if that had happened to Mali, wouldn't he have told the story before? Also, he seems to rarely call women by their names, usually 'lass that fancied me', so I'm unsure about that detail.

The giant ladybird sounds stupid, because... Why?! But that might be exactly the point of throwing it in there.

The Vision hasn't volunteered a story yet, so I'm not sure why you specifically think we should go with a story by/about him when one has not yet been given? Did you mean to say Slightly Green? Can everyone come up with a story, then? I'm going to suggest everyone write a story about themselves, as we all know better about ourselves the 'kind' of things we might do than to suggest them for other people.

That said, there's absolutely nothing spectacular about Mali's story. It's just 'I fell off a horse', stretched into a load of unneeded detail, so...

Author:  Curiosity [ Fri Apr 20, 2012 10:03 ]
Post subject:  Re: STORY TASK FOR TEAM UNICORN (task three)

The Vision suggested a true story about him swimming the channel, or similar. Given that he's a very trustworthy type, and has done loads of that type of thing (he takes part in those drumming records etc) I think it would be a tactical move for him to say he did something else similarly crazy, but false, to be greeted with "Ah, it is The Vision, he does that kind of crazy shit so it must be true".

But I might be over thinking it.
