Okay, Amazon - check.

But let's say Amazon don't exist, OR make me cry with their joke delivery service - where would you turn to to buy books online?

I used to love The Book depository because they were quite quick, had free delivery and the prices undercut Amazon by a really good margin. Then they good a really ugly new site and stuck their prices up so high that I almost sobbed the next time I visited the web page.

Can anyone recommend a decent alternative to Amazon, online?

It's just for books, so no electronics/DVD/CD/games section needed.

Takk x

I only ever use Amazon tbh as they're cheap as chips and delivery is quick sharp.

Are you after more 'specialist' titles Mimi? :hat:

I almost exclusively user Amazon, though I check with the Book Depository since you mentioned it and they sometimes undercut Amazon still. I've never really had a problem with AMazon's delivery service.

For more obscure titles, though not necessarily better prices, I use AbeBooks.

There's always the online Waterstone's store too, though my memory indicates that it might not be too awesome.

I thought the Book Depository also sold via Amazon's marketplace? Or have they stopped doing that now?

We use abe books at work, also. I like to think that they're sent by Grandpa Simpson.

This is great.

I'm not looking for anything too 'specialist', no, I just had a couple of laughable experiences with Amazon with the past, so tend to look elsewhere if I possibly can.

The Book depository was the best place on t'internet, I am sure. But then they became rubbish and became un-best.

*sob*.

I mostly use Amazon for online purchases, or Borders if it's a US title that they in stock in the UK. However, I am lucky enough to live fairly near a decent indpendent bookstore (who don't do online) so if I ever really, really, need something I go there.

Amazon have a joke delivery service? I'd say that out of all the online retailers, Amazon are probably the best when it comes to deliveries.

Have to say, if I need something in a hurry, it's Amazon without fail.

:this:

Especially with Prime, which I'm strongly considering carrying on with past my free trial.
