Does anyone know if it's possible to recover deleted saves from the 360 hard disk, and if so how would I go about this?
Babbysitting my wee cousins and one deleted my profile by mistake trying to delete his own before we went out, problem is he deleted the saves along with it. The only thing I'm worried about among the saves is Forza. Level 40something driver and not many races left till I complete all the events! :'(

***Don't do any of this until you've confirmed it somehow as I don't know what I'm talking about***

Isn't your profile stored on microsoft servers, so as long as you've been regularly connected to xbox live, you can recover your profile and get everything back.
I think the saves are only stored locally, but I'm assuming you can't use them because you're not logged in on your profile and recovering it would fix that?
Unless your cousin deleted your saves as well, in which case I think you're screwed.

Deleting the profile doesn't delete the saves. If you go to the rightmost pane of the dashboard, select memory, you should be able to find your saves, with "Unknown profile" next to them.

Recover your profile, and they should hopefully reassociate.

Thanks excellent peoples. It was worth a shot but it appears I'm screwed, if you select "Delete profile and items" when you're deleting the profile it deletes the saves as well! Certain arcade and retail games appear to save on my profile, but the likes of Forza and Oblivion are gone.

On the sunnier side of the street though, we've had a good day.
I've just dropped them off home shattered, they played games while I sorted out my moneys, then we went for a waunder through the shops and markets, then ended up going fishing for the rest of the day.
We caught a fish, it was this size: :DD

I have backups of all my games now, just incase of a hard drive failure. Except Forza2, which refuses to copy across devices. Which is, in all possible ways, rubbish. (Even more annoying, given quite how many hours worth of playing I'd lose in this case)

I do, too. Except I have a USB plug in the back of the 360 hard drive that takes full back-up dumps to the PC, so even if it cacks up I can copy it to whatever I want.

I store most saves on the Memory Card I use to keep my Gamertag portable, too.

Viva Pinata is another one that's a pain in the arse for not letting you copy across devices.

You can copy Forza 2 save games, I just can't remember for the life of me how it's done. But it's definitely possible as I was able to use a memory card to copy my Forza 2 save off of my old Premium and on to the new Elite - without the use of one of those hard disk transfer cables because I couldn't be bothered to wait for Microsoft to send me one.

It was a long time ago that I did it, but I think it has something to do with your profile - like you have to transfer your profile over to the memory card first or something like that.

Apologies for being so vague - but it defintely is possible to do.
